Information procedure

Initially, before the measurements of the physical characteristics and blood samples are taken, basketball players are informed on the service via a professional PowerPoint presentation. The presentation lasts half an hour during which interested parties are briefed on the process, the importance of the service, and the benefits they will gain. The presentation will take place when at least 20 athletes are present. After the presentation, stakeholders can discuss any questions they may have with the FoodOxys team. At the end of the discussion, a basketball player or parent of a young basketball player is given a questionnaire that must be answered. The questionnaire includes a series of questions, the answer of which helps FoodOxys team map the nutritional habits and the state of health of each basketball player.

Body measurements procedure – Capillary blood sampling procedure

After informing the team, the basketball players will be divided into groups of 6 people and come to a place where the equipment of the company will be installed, every 30 minutes. The procedure will include weighing each athlete in a standard calibrated scale, body composition analysis and fat percentage determination. After that, a drop of capillary blood is taken from each basketball player’s finger. The process is painless and fast. The basketball player can then leave and the scientific staff proceeds to analyze the levels of glutathione, the most important antioxidant in humans, using the company’s special portable equipment.  It is important to emphasize that basketball players should abstain from food and drink three hours before the measurements so as not to affect the results. It is estimated that the whole process for a basketball team of 20 basketball players will take 3 hours. In teams of underage basketball players, the length of time depends on the number of children involved.

Results of body measurements and blood glutathione levels

The results of the body measurements mentioned above and the glutathione levels will be readily out and readily available (in a few hours or the next day, depending on the number of analyses) to the team leader (e.g. coach). The personalized diet for each basketball player will be sent within five working days to each team leader.
